Electric vehicle trends
Madison Gas and Electric has a network of public charging stations throughout the Madison area that provide 100% renewable electricity. This presentation will cover the data that Madison Gas and Electric has collected at these public charging stations through customer participation in charging research programs at businesses and homes, and their experience with managing charging station installations. The experience MGE has gained will provide information for business owners and home builders on electric vehicle trends and best practices.

Solar for homes in Wisconsin
This presentation will showcase solar energy for homes in Wisconsin and make the case that now is the time for builders, contractors, and the public to take a new look at solar. The cost of installed solar on homes has declined over 70% in the past decade, and 600-1000 homes are getting solar electric systems annually in Wisconsin. When incorporated with new construction, the costs can be even lower, and financed into the mortgage. State rebates and federal tax credits help reduce the up-front expenses and will be de-mystified in this session as well.

The connected home
We are addicted to the convenience that cell phones provide. Many consumers expect that same convenience from their home. We want to be notified of a sump pump failure, a smoke alarm, or intruder. We want to "see" what our teenagers are doing in the basement. We want our thermostat to adjust itself to save energy when we are not around. In this session, we will examine home technology, learn which consumers are candidates (hint: it is not a millennial thing), and understand how the thermostat is the starting point, with its ability to save energy and improve comfort.
