Whose problem are you trying to solve? Many energy service providers design their marketing to solve their own problems, and then struggle with not getting as many customers as they wanted. A consumer-centric approach helps make sure that you're marketing what people want and where and when they want it. This presentation will introduce a framework for understanding the stages of marketing and look at direct research done with 1,200 homeowners about their preferences for home energy improvements. It will draw on years of experience marketing energy upgrades and improving slow-moving programs.
