Wisconsin Urban Wood and similar networks of arborists, sawmills, and skilled woodworkers are making use of trees lost to emerald ash borers, construction projects, and utility clearances to build some of the finest wood features in today's buildings. Dead, dying or damaged trees that once filled landfills are now being milled into feature walls, flooring, conference tables and many other products, most often without traveling more than 50 miles from stump to final consumer. This presentation will reveal a network of small businesses producing amazing products from a sustainable resource once considered a waste stream.
